Crested Euphorbia Lactea
This gnarly Crested Euphorbia Lactea (Euphorbia lactea forma cristata) is also known by the common names “Elkhorn” or “Frilled Fan”. The dark green succulent has an undulating fan-like ridge where tiny spines protrude outward. This upper ridge can become darker in color and sometimes even take on a reddish color. These are about 4-6 inches tall, but they can grow over 2 feet tall over a very long time.
Crested euphorbia lacteas love hot climates and need to be in bright light with partial shade. They experience a growth spurt mainly in the Spring and Summer, which is the best time to take cuttings for propagating new plants. Also during the summer, you should water thoroughly when the soil becomes completely dry. In the Fall and Winter you water just once or not at all if your plant looks juicy enough. Whenever you water, make sure the soil drains so the roots don't get mushy! The white sap that comes out when a euphorbia plant is cut or broken is toxic, so don't get it in your mouth or eyes and make sure you wash your hands.
The Crested Euphorbia Lactea kit comes with a 4 inch cube pot in matte black or matte white, 1 lb of Juicykits cactus mix, 1/2 lb of jet black lava rock, and a cute little note card. Supplies are limited, so don't wait to order.
